Did you know that before and after the 2010 Olympics Whistler will be absolutely the best place to ski – Why? Because most people think Whistler is going to be crowded with limited runs open. This is far from he truth – all the runs will be open pre and post olympics and even during the Olympics 90% of the mountian will be open. We are also expecting lower visitor numbers so the pistes will have less skiers than normal giving you greater access to the number one resort in North America. – James

In 2010 Whistler will play host to the alpine events for the Winter Olympic and Para Olympic Games. Next season will be an amazing time to be in Whistler!
Pre-Olympics, the resort vibe will be reaching epic proportions as the community readies itself to welcome the world. There will be a multitude of concerts, events and additional things to see and do in the lead up to the big event including the Whistler Film Festival.
Post Olympics, there will still be much to celebrate, with the Para Olympic Games in March, the epic Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival in April, longer days and warmer temperatures!
Why are we not running instructor courses during the Olympics? As locals, we know and have been advised that there will be many challenges living and working here during the Olympic period. Transportation throughout the community will be restricted and challenging throughout the Games; prices will be inflated; several areas of the mountain will be off limits due to Olympic events; many restaurants, bars and clubs have been rented out during this time and security everywhere in Whistler will be extremely tight. We want you to experience all of Whistler – ski where you want; go where you want, when you want; without any of the challenges that hosting a massive world class event can bring with it.
